Abstract: Most biospheric nitroaromatic compounds (NACs) are industrial chemicals, such as explosives, dyes, polyurethane foams, herbicides, insecticides, and solvents, that often are recalcitrant to biological treatments and persist in the environment, constituting a hazard due to their toxicity and mutagenicity.
