Title: Precision Polymer Design via the Exploration of High-Throughput Continuous Flow Strategies
Authors: Haven, Joris J.
Advisors: Junkers, Tanja
Issue Date: 2017
Abstract: On-line analysis of chemical processes provides real time data and thus allows for rapid kinetic screening and in consequence efficient optimization of chemical reactions. A combination of both – continuous flow processing and on-line monitoring – constitutes an ideal tool in any chemical synthesis. Off-line analysis slows down optimization procedures and prevent the full exploitation of the high-throughput potential of microreactor technology. The setup was used to examine the reaction efficiency of single unit monomer insertions. Today, this research field mainly focuses on the fundamentals of gaining control over the primary polymer sequence. Although more optimization is still needed, herein the first steps are taken to pave the way toward direct biomedical applications.
