Title: How Unilever Realises Its Mission Of Making Sustainable Living Commonplace Through Partnering

Issue Date: 2017
Abstract: To realize its core mission of making sustainable living commonplace through more social value and less environmental impact, Unilever has developed an effective approach to strategic partnering. This approach hinges on developing a collaborative mindset and inter-firm trust, ensuring early partner involvement, creating constellations of complementary partners, forging quality agreements, and making sure partnerships are strategically embedded in both Unilever and its partners. To strengthen existing businesses as well as create entirely new ones, Unilever actively searches for external complementary assets in R&D, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing, and Supply Chain and combines these assets with those it possesses internally to generate business opportunities and innovation.
